Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Hardware Design Engineer to design and develop high-performance electronic hardware systems with a strong focus on PCB design and signal integrity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing multi-layer PCBs, ensuring signal integrity, power integrity, and minimizing EMI in complex systems. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to create reliable, efficient, and manufacturable hardware designs for a wide range of applications.
Qualification and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in hardware design and PCB development, with a focus on signal and power integrity for high-speed designs.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, high-speed interfaces, and power management systems.
- Experience with signal integrity and power integrity analysis and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of high-speed interfaces (DDR, PCIe, SATA, SDIO, etc.) and their associated SI challenges.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and TDR (Time-Domain Reflectometry) tools.
- Familiarity with RF design and wireless communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Validation and Testing:
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate hardware functionality, including signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI performance.
- Work closely with firmware and software engineers to ensure successful integration of hardware and firmware.
- Documentation and Review:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, PCB layout files, BOMs, and test reports.
- Participate in design reviews, providing insights into SI/PI concerns, EMI mitigation strategies, and manufacturability.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards for DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Testability).
- Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, software, and manufacturing engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Liaise with external vendors and fabricators to ensure that PCB designs are optimized for cost-effective production.
- Support manufacturing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts during the product lifecycle.
