SHELF LABEL
Description
This is an Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) built around the Dialog Semiconductor DA14531 Bluetooth Low Energy SoC. It operates in a single BLE mode - connectable, GATT-based peripheral - exposing a custom writable characteristic so a gateway or mobile app can push price and content updates directly, secured with BLE bonding so only paired/trusted gateways can write to the label. Sleep duration is configurable, letting the label sit in deep sleep between advertising/connection windows for extended periods - pushing achievable battery life into multi-year territory depending on update frequency. An E-Ink display shows the pricing/product info with zero static power draw, and the label runs off a single-cell rechargeable Li-Po battery.
Features
- Single BLE mode: connectable advertising with GATT write support (no mode-switching needed)
- Custom GATT profile exposing a writable characteristic for price/content updates
- Secure bonding - pairs and stores long-term keys so only trusted gateways can reconnect and write
- Configurable sleep interval - user/gateway sets how long the label sleeps between advertising windows, trading update latency for battery life
- Extended sleep mode enabling multi-year battery life on a single charge at longer intervals
- E-Ink display - always visible pricing/product info, draws power only on refresh
- Rechargeable single-cell Li-Po battery
- Compact, low-profile shelf-mount form factor
